Just in time to celebrate the public launch of Google+ the social influence measurement platform Klout announced that it has added integration with Google’s social network.

Klout works by measuring behavior across a variety of platforms – including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Tumblr, and more. A Klout score is calculated based on interactions like the number of retweets received on Twitter or how many likes a picture gets on Instagram.

Once a Google+ account is connected with Klout the service will begin measuring the number of comments and +1s received. Klout scores are not affected by the data from Circles. The company is more focused on measuring the ability to drive action rather than quantity.

Google+ provides an unique way to engage a community. The social controls allow its community to create content for specific audiences or to open it up to the public. This ability is what makes it such a versatile platform and is why bloggers, community managers, and social butterflies have taken a liking to the service.

For businesses this is just one more metric that will help to determine who and where your brand evangelists are. Once Google+ adds business pages you will have the ability to measure your own level of social influence.
