Today Google announced that Google Docs — the free web-based office suite — has officially been integrated into Google+ Hangouts.

Previously the company was testing this integration through Hangouts with extras — which enabled members preview upcoming features.

The official roll-out means that you can now add an existing document, or upload a new one to your Hangouts. To get started, just click on the new “Docs” button inside your Hangout.

Your documents will be available on the left-hand side of your video chat, making it convenient to switch between and collaboratively edit multiple documents at once.

Recent interface changes have made it easier than ever to initiate and invite people to a Hangout. By adding screensharing and Google Docs integration, Google+ has created an extremely valuable collaboration tool for businesses — especially those with remote teams.
