New audience options have been added to the Promote button on Facebook Page posts.

Facebook’s Promote button enables Pages with more than 400 fans to create ads directly from their posts — which can help expand the reach of your content.

But aside from helping your content appear more prominently in News Feeds, it wasn’t clear who you were reaching — unless you dug around in the Help Center.

In an effort to clarify this, Facebook has introduced new audience options through the Promote button, enabling you to choose between existing fans or both fans and their friends.

It’s important that you decide which posts are worth promoting before you click, as prices can add up. For example, using the feature can cost as much as $100 for just three days of featuring your post.
