Add Instagram Business Profile Add-On to Sprout

Adding the Instagram Business Profile add-on within Sprout has several benefits, including Instagram Publishing through the Sprout web app, new metrics from Sprout’s reporting suite and more to follow.

Follow the steps in our Help Center Article to add your Business Profile add-on to Sprout.

Publish Single Image Posts to Instagram with Sprout's Desktop App

Sprout Social’s web app now supports posting single image Instagram posts directly to your feed without requiring an additional mobile workflow.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Follow these two critical steps of converting your Instagram profile to an Instagram Business Profile and adding your Instagram Business Profile to Sprout.
  3. Open Compose and select your Instagram Business Profile from the profile dropdown.
  4. Add a single image with an optional caption, choose when you’d like to publish and hit Send.

Note: Multi-image, video, and Story posts can still be published from Sprout’s Instagram Scheduling Workflow.

Export Listener Insights to PDF & CSV

Listener dashboards can be exported to PDF and CSV to make it easier to share reports and present insights to stakeholders. 

  1. HOW TO:
  2. From the Listener dashboard, click the arrow next to the Listener name.
  3. Select Export PDF or Export CSV.

Switch to Private Message from Facebook Wall Post

You can now elect to start a Private Message with a user when replying to a Facebook wall post.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. Choose a Facebook Wall Post from the Smart Inbox and select the Reply icon.
  3. Above the profile picker, select Switch to Private Message. This will start a separate private message with the user.

Please Note:

  • To use this option, ability to send and receive private messages must be enabled in Facebook for the page as well as the user in question.
  • If a given wall post has already been replied to privately, the link is no longer available for that wall post.
  • If the user in question is under 18, this option is not available.

Save Draft Messages to the Calendar for iOS and Android

You can now assign a specific time to draft messages and view them on the publishing calendar on Sprout’s iOS and Android apps.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open Compose and type your post.
  3. Choose Draft from the message type menu.
  4. Tap the message type menu again and select Add/Edit Time.
  5. Pick a time and select Save.
  6. Edit from the Calendar by selecting the Edit or Duplicate icons.
  7. To publish or schedule the message, select Edit. Either change the message type from Save as Draft to another message type or select the Publish button to schedule it for the tentative post time(s).

Automatically Mention Users When Replying to Facebook Comment Replies for iOS and Android

When replying to Facebook comment replies from Sprout’s iOS and Android apps, Sprout will automatically @mention the user being replied to. This enhancement mirrors functionality on the native Facebook platform, making it easier to navigate a thread of nested replies.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. Choose a Facebook Comment Reply and select Reply.

Brand Keyword Push Notifications for iOS and Android

You can now receive a digest of Brand Keywords notifications at configurable times via push notification in the Settings area of Sprout’s iOS and Android apps.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. From the Settings screen, select Brand Keywords.
  3. Toggle on a Brand Keyword you’d like to receive notifications for.
  4. Select how often you’d like to receive the push notification.

Quick Filters on Android

You can now tap and hold on profiles in the Filter menu from Inbox, Drafts, Calendar, and Notifications to quickly toggle profile filters.

Share Web Images from Sprout’s Browser Extension

Users now have the ability to hover over an image on the web to quickly share it via Sprout’s browser extension for Chrome and Firefox.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Download the Sprout browser extension and log in.
  3. Browse a website and hover over an image.
  4. Click the Sprout Social Share button. This will open the image in Compose.
  5. Write a message and publish or schedule the message.

Needs Approval Stream UI Updates

Sprout users now have a more cohesive experience inside the Needs Approval stream. Visual updates include a static filter panel and message views similar to other streams in Sprout.

UI Updates to Bot Builder

Sprout’s Bot Builder has been enhanced to streamline the process of creating a chatbot for Twitter and Facebook – as well as to lay the foundation for more advanced bot functionality. Before entering the Conversation Map, users can now select a profile, complete network-specific setup and customize their chatbot’s appearance from one comprehensive modal in the Bot Builder home.

Note: Users will no longer be able to add ‘Pre-Designed’ Avatars for Twitter Bots.

Find New Content with Content Suggestions

You can now filter and surface engaging content to easily share with your audience via Content Suggestions. Quickly find quality content to publish to social audiences without leaving Sprout.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Go to Publishing.
  3. On the left side, select Find Content.
  4. On the right, choose the date range, matching criteria and the content categories you’d like to see.
  5. From the articles feed, click the article title or Read Full Article to see the full article in another tab.
  6. Select Send to Compose to share the article in Sprout.

Auto-Complete @User Mentions in the Smart Inbox

Sprout users can autocomplete @user mentions that simply tag another user on Facebook and Instagram. By completing these messages, you can reduce inbox volume and focus on the messages that matter.

  1. HOW TO
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Select Inbox Settings from the drop-down menu.
  4. Toggle User Mentions on.
  5. Select which profile(s) it will apply to.
  6. Click Save.

Note: User mentions plus an emoji, image, GIF or sticker will also be auto-completed by enabling this option.

Measure Chatbot Interactions With the Twitter Bots Report

The Bots Report contains important metrics about bot message and conversation volume as well as Quick Reply performance for Twitter. Users can choose a date and a profile to analyze sent and received chatbot messages on Twitter Direct Message and then export to PDF, and send or schedule deliveries of PDFs.   

  1. HOW TO:
  2. Click on Reports.
  3. From the left hand navigation, select Twitter Reports.
  4. Click Twitter Bots.  
  5. On the right-hand side, select a date range and a profile.
  6. Scroll through the report.
  7. To export data, click Export on the right-hand navigation.
  8. Select Export PDF.
  9. To email a PDF, click Export on the right-hand navigation.
  10. Select Send PDF.
  11. Enter up to 25 email addresses.
  12. Click Send.
  13. To schedule a PDF to be delivered, click Export on the right-hand navigation.
  14. Select Schedule PDF.
  15. Enter up to 25 email addresses.
  16. Choose to repeat Weekly or Monthly.
  17. Enter a name for the report.
  18. Click Schedule.

Instagram Metrics Added to the Sent Messages Report

The Instagram Sent Messages Report now includes impressions, reach, video views, saves, engagement rate (per impression), and engagement rate (per person) for posts to better understand post-level performance.

Note: Impressions, reach and video views are available to Instagram Business Profiles only.

Edit and Duplicate Draft Messages on the Calendar

You can now edit and duplicate draft messages from the Calendar in addition to the Drafts stream.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Go to Publishing and select the Calendar.
  3. After adding a Draft message with an assigned calendar time, select the Drafted Messages message type.
  4. Select a Draft message on the calendar and click the Edit or Duplicate icon.

@Mention LinkedIn Company Pages in Compose

You can now @mention LinkedIn Pages from Sprout’s Compose window. This is available from Sprout’s web interface as well as the Android and iOS apps.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open Compose and select a LinkedIn profile from the dropdown.
  3. In your post type @ followed by the first letters of the Company Page name.
  4. Choose the Page you wish to tag from the dropdown menu.
  5. Select the Preview Message icon to see how the post will appear before it is posted.

Automatically Mention Users When Replying to Facebook Comment Replies

Add Images & GIFs to Chatbot Conversations

Users can now add images and GIFs to Welcome Messages and Auto-Responses which can help reinforce ideas or showcase products to bring more personality to the conversation.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. From the conversation map, click on the Welcome Message.
  3. Click Browse under Add an Image.
  4. Select your image or GIF from your library.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat steps for Auto-Responses by clicking on an Auto-Response.

Note: Images or GIFs are not available for Quick Replies.

Add Call-to-Action Buttons in Chatbot Conversations

Add a call-to-action button to Welcome Messages and Auto-Responses to drive users to an external URL to achieve a specific goal. Using call-to-action buttons you can lead consumers to make a purchase, share their experience or to another destination.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. From the conversation map, click on the Welcome Message.
  3. Click Add Call-to-Action button.
  4. Enter Button Text.
  5. Enter the URL.
  6. You have the option to shorten the URL by clicking Shorten URL.
  7. Click Add Another Call-to-Action button.
  8. Add up to 3 CTA Buttons.
  9. Click Save.

Note: CTA Buttons are not available for Quick Replies.

Bulk Complete Messages in The Smart Inbox

Select all messages loaded in the Smart Inbox and complete them with a single click. By completing messages in bulk, you can more efficiently manage your inbox to achieve ‘Inbox Zero’.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. From the Smart Inbox, load all the messages that you wish to complete.
  3. Check the empty box to the right of the Newest to Oldest sort.
  4. Click the new checkbox that will appear.

Complete Multiple Messages At A Time

For users that do not wish to complete all messages in the Smart Inbox, they have the option to select multiple messages and complete them at once.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. Check off the empty checkbox from an individual message.
  3. Once you select all the messages you’d like complete, click the new checkbox at the top of the Smart Inbox.

Complete All Replies & Comments In A Thread

Sprout users can complete all replies and comments in a thread at once for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

  1. HOW TO:
  2. Click on the gear icon within an individual message.
  3. Select Complete Thread.

You can now see how posts will appear on LinkedIn before they are published, in addition to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  2. Open Compose and type your post. Include any multimedia attachments (optional).
  3. Select the Preview Message icon to see the message preview.

Save Draft Messages on the Calendar

You can now assign a specific time to draft messages and view them on the publishing calendar.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open Compose and type your post.
  3. Choose Save as Draft from the message type menu.
  4. At the bottom of the Compose window, enable Save Draft on Calendar and choose one or more times from the calendar.
  5. Select Save.
  6. To ensure the message gets published, go to Drafts on the left navigation and change the message type from Drafts to Publish, Schedule or Queue before the scheduled time(s).

Publish Videos to Facebook from iOS

You can now draft, schedule, queue and publish videos to Facebook from both Sprout’s iOS and Android apps. This new functionality fits seamlessly into Sprout’s existing publishing toolset allowing you to cross-post videos with Twitter and Instagram as well as apply tags and submit messages for approval.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open Compose within the app and tap the camera icon.
  3. Select whether or not you want to take a video or open your album.
  4. Select the video you’d like to attach or take your video.
  5. Enter a title for the video (required for Facebook).
  6. To remove a video, tap the X in the top right corner.

Share Images to Sprout from iOS Photo Editing Apps

Sprout users can now choose to edit images with their favorite photo editing apps and send them to Compose in Sprout’s iOS app. Use photo editing capabilities to add filters, frames, text overlay and stickers as well as adjust color, brightness, shadows and much more.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Choose a photo editing app that is on your mobile device (popular examples include VSCO and Canva).
  3. Edit your image and select to share it in another app. Select Sprout Social from the list of available options. This will open the image in Sprout’s Compose.

Send Tweets With 280 Characters

You can now send Tweets that include up to 280 characters from Sprout’s web and mobile apps.

Search an Instagram Tag on iOS

Users can now search for Instagram Tags in the Sprout iOS app. From the Search screen, a user can search by Tag and Repost, Share or open the post in the native Instagram app.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open the Sprout iOS App.
  3. Select the Search icon from the Navigation Bar.
  4. Select Tags.
  5. Enter a search query.
  6. From the results, you can take action on a post by selecting Repost, Share or opening the post in Instagram.
  7. To search a new query, select Clear.

Access Likes from the “Liked by Me” Feed on iOS

Sprout mobile users can now see a feed of Instagram posts that a selected profile has liked in Sprout’s iOS app.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open the Sprout iOS App.
  3. From the Feeds tab, select the Filter menu item.
  4. Select an Instagram profile.
  5. Select Liked by Me.
  6. Select Done to close the Filter menu and see the selected Feed.

Repost, Share, and Open Liked Posts in Instagram from the Liked by Me Feed on iOS

From the Feeds view, a Sprout mobile user can view Liked posts and easily Repost, Share or open the post in the native Instagram app.

  1. HOW-TO:
  2. Open the Sprout iOS App.
  3. From the Feeds tab, select the Filter menu item.
  4. Select an Instagram profile.
  5. Select Liked by Me.
  6. Select Done to close the Filter menu and see the selected Feed.
  7. From the Liked by Me feed, you can take action on a post by selecting Repost, Share, or opening Liked posts in Instagram.

 

UI Enhancements to Sprout’s iOS Facebook Detail View

The Facebook Detail View on iOS has been enhanced to better align with the view and reply experience across all networks. The updated UI includes in-line actions for all public Facebook posts and comments.
