According to Saverr’s spokesperson and Community Manager, Matt DiStefano, Saverr “helps shoppers save time and save money.” Specifically, Saverr is a smartphone app that allows shoppers to scan their receipts to get custom coupons and circulars based on the items they’ve just purchased. “By scanning your receipts, Saverr will generate the most accurate, tailor-made offers for you,” says DiStefano.

Customers simply scan their grocery receipts using the built-in camera functionality within the app. Saverr finds relevant, local, coupons and circulars, based on the purchases you’ve just scanned; coupons can be selected, or de-selected depending on your interest in the offers. Users then use the app to email coupons to themselves which can be printed and redeemed on the next visit to the store.

The app is available throughout the U.S., and its retail partners currently include Stop & Shop, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and Target. Saverr’s business development team is looking to partner with other national retailers, including well-known brands in the retail pharmacy space. The app is currently available for Android only, but a version for iPhone will be coming soon.

Saverr’s consumer research shows that upwards of 13 percent of a typical family’s monthly income is spent on groceries. “Times are tough for many families right now,” says DiStefano, “so we wanted to focus on delivering a service that could really have a positive impact for people.” For Saverr, that means helping people save money on their grocery purchases — and making their monthly food budgets go a little further.

Because consumers can use Saverr to easily find and print coupons for the products they already buy, they’re more likely to redeem them, according to DiStefano. And the more coupons a family redeems, “the more money they can save,” he adds.

Mr. DiStefano says that Saverr not only saves money for shoppers, it saves them time as well. “Going through all your weekly shopping circulars, finding the products you’re specifically interested in, clipping coupons…it all takes a lot of time,” says DiStefano. With Saverr, you scan items that you’ve already purchased (by way of the receipts of the national retail chains mentioned above) to get coupons that are customized to the products you buy most frequently. This eliminates searching and clipping coupons for those specific products for your next visit, thus saving you time.

How You Can Leverage Saverr

As a consumer, if you’ve ever fussed over clipping coupons, (or if you usually just don’t bother with them at all), Saverr may be a way for you to save a little money on the things you buy the most — without all the other headaches typically associated with redeeming coupons.

If you’re a retailer, or a consumer goods manufacturer — or work with other companies in that space — the advent of targeted, electronic couponing is something that you might want to take a closer look at. Apps like Saverr are making it easier for developers and partners to review usage data to see what patterns are emerging in shopper behavior.

For the consumer, this means more relevant, valuable offers can be presented to enhance their shopping activities. For retailers and manufacturers, the more people who redeem coupons means the more goods that are sold — which is always a good thing. Finding innovative ways to make your customers’ shopping experiences more appealing and useful is also another related benefit of aligning your activities with a company like Saverr.

To try out the app for yourself, download it on Google Play. If you’d like to discuss potential partnership opportunities with Saverr, reach out through its website, Facebook Page, or through Twitter.
