Long-requested by mobile users, Facebook has finally launched a share button for its mobile website.
Functionally, nothing has changed. The new mobile button is the same as the share button currently available on the social network’s website — which can be found next to the Like and Comment buttons.
The only difference is that now fans can repost content from Pages when using Facebook’s mobile site. The company didn’t offer this ability previously, not because of a technical hurdle, but rather because it was never made a priority.
Facebook also noted that the mobile share button will arrive on the company’s iOS and Android apps soon. This is a huge opportunity for brands, businesses, celebrities, and publications looking to increase their reach.
Currently the social network has more than 600 million monthly active users on mobile, and about 20 percent of those only access Facebook from their mobile device. By offering a mobile share button, it’s likely that you’ll see a significant increase in the number of shares for some posts.
