As a brand, it’s likely that you’ve gained Facebook fans across the country and beyond. Promoted Posts were launched as a way to reach more of those fans without having to create standard ads.
The downside was that many impressions were being wasted among less relevant audiences in other countries. To help you get more bang for your buck, the social network has released an update that improves your targeting.
Now, Facebook will target your Promoted Post to the countries where most of your fans reside, by default. Previously optimized for reach, many Page owners were frustrated to spend money and not reach the intended fans.
It’s possible that this update will help you reach more relevant audiences. That said, we don’t recommend relying solely on the default setting. Page posts can be targeted to specific locations and demographics, such as age, gender, and education. This will help to ensure that only the most relevant people see your posts in their News Feeds.
Promoted Posts is a flexible, self-serve product available to Pages with more than 400 Likes. Unlike other Facebook ads that appear in the News Feed or sidebar, Promoted Posts can only appear in the feed. If you’re looking for more highly targeted ads, it’s worth looking into other Facebook advertising options.
