Repin
A repin is a Pin that someone saves from another account to one of their own Pinterest boards. Pinterest now calls this action a “save,” but marketers and searchers still use “repin.” The repin keeps the image, title and link to the original source.
Pinterest swapped its “Pin it” button for “Save” in June 2016. Today, brands track these saves to measure user engagement and the shareability of their site content.

Benefits of tracking repins
- Monitor engagement. Track saves, comments and sends to gauge the shareability of your visual content and establish your brand’s influence.
- Analyze trends in shared content. Pinpoint your most repinned content—whether that’s how-tos, recipes, tips or quotes.
- Measure content performance. Compare saves across your pins to see which images, titles and descriptions resonate most with your audience, then apply those insights to future pins.
- Identify top-performing boards. Find out which boards earn the most saves so you can prioritize them, refresh underperforming ones and organize your content around what people want.
- Understand website content appeal. Track saves from pins linked to your site to see which blog posts, product pages and other web content people find worth saving and sharing.
- Extend your reach. Every save puts your pin in front of a new set of followers, so tracking saves helps you spot the content that spreads your brand to new audiences.
- Inform your content strategy. Use save data to decide what to create next, when to post and which topics deserve more attention, so your Pinterest marketing efforts stay focused on what works.
