Facebook Increases the Number of Display Ads on a Single Page
The social network has gradually increased this number over the past couple of years. In 2010, the company moved from three to four ads. This number has recently been bumped up to six.
Previously, only permalink pages for posts with a large number of comments displayed 10 ads. Although Facebook’s Help Center still reflects six ads, we’ve seen up to seven ads appear since January.
As an advertiser, this doesn’t necessarily mean good news. Having more ads on a single page means that you’ll be competing with nine others for clickthroughs.
Facebook’s ad options are already on shaky ground with back and forth arguments regarding their effectiveness. Increasing the amount of display ads shown will be a tricky endeavor, as the company will have to balance a quality user experience while maintaining a level of performance to keep advertisers on the platform.
Although the increase isn’t official yet, it’s important that you create ads with your target audience in mind. Relevant and timely ads can actually be beneficial to user experience.
