Twitter accidentally spotlighted its little known Follow Recommendations feature this week. A Twitter employee tweeted about the function, then deleted the mention, but not before the tech press publicized it.

This feature has been around for awhile, but has received little attention until now. It allows you to create a custom list of Twitter accounts you recommend others to follow. This custom list would replace the automated list that Twitter would otherwise generate.

If you’re interested in creating Follow Recommendations for your company’s Twitter account, simply create a list by clicking on the List tab on your main Twitter page and selecting the Create List option from the drop down menu that appears. Then put the hashtag #WelcomeToTwitter in the description box and mark the list as Public. After that, simply add the accounts you want to recommend to that list.
