It’s Twitter Tip Tuesday — every Tuesday we’ll focus on one Twitter Tip and show you how to integrate it into your social media strategy. This week we’ll show you that perhaps the best Twitter advice is simply to get started, damn the torpedoes, and just tweet it!

This Twitter Tip is for those of you who still have not started, or embraced, Twitter. To paraphrase that famous quote from Nike, don’t wait any longer, “Just Tweet It!” The sooner you get started on Twitter, the sooner you can begin to build relationships, find followers, and reap the marketing rewards that Twitter has to offer.

The Journey of Twitter Begins with Your First Tweet

Journey of a Thousand Tweets

Believe it or not, if you haven’t yet joined Twitter, you’re still in the majority. Although the social media train may have already left the station, it hasn’t left the universe yet. In other words, if you’ve been putting off getting on the Twitter train, there’s still time to get on board. So, if you haven’t done so already, start tweeting now!

At Sprout Social Insights, we’ve set the stage for you by showing you how to setup your Twitter account\, and provided you with recommendations for the first six things you should do once your account has been set up. We’ve even shown you how to find people to follow and to acknowledge them when you do.

Now, it’s all up to you. The proof of Twitter as an effective marketing tool can only be demonstrated if you’re actually using the platform, so go ahead, we’ll wait.

Good. Now let us know that you’re here by contacting us on Twitter at @Sprout_Insights, or leave a comment at the end of this article. Just as the ancient Chinese proverb says, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step,” so too does your journey with Twitter begin with the first tweet.
