Facebook might just become the 'passport' for the internet with every other company leveraging off it. I've never understood why people use Twitter.

Twitter has a big future, IMO. The conversational element and viral potential trumps Facebook in a lot of ways. It's comparing apples and oranges though, Twitter and Facebook fulfill very different purposes.

That's true - Facebook still has a strong global presence and migrating users from one network to another can be tough, but definitely seems like Twitter and Instagram are picking up in popularity among younger users. Great input, Ryans!

I feel like twitter and instagram already have it beat in some realms. The older generation is still going strong with facebook though.

While it's certainly appearing more and more vulnerable, it's still got the power of a global established fanbase. Part of the reason Google+ never picked up was the hassle of migration to another network. Everyone is on Facebook - despite the high-end business problems and IPO pains, the common user will likely be here to stay.
