It is a good platform for bussiness people  to reach more fan's.

now the tests are over and the system has gone gone worldwide, very disappointed.  i run facebook page with over 30K of followers, if I use the promote function, I get 10% more reach, all fine and good a few more likes of the post it self maybe not very significant amount all told, but if you look deeper I do not not gain new page likes actual I get a large increase i un-likes for my page.why this is all promted post mark sponcered facebook users do not like stuff pushed on them through friends etc, fine but not really stuff paid for. So why should i pay to prompt my post, I cant think of a reason, unless facebook actually  promotes to Followers who actually like to see my post Ie. like the fist 10 to 15% who do for free anyway, why pay for more and  shoot your self in the foot and loose followers of your page. never going to use again unless there is a significant change. if i post very regularly I can get the same reach with out the negative affect of a sponsored post. What are facebook thinking.

Does anyone know why there are different prices for different post?  On my page that has 5300 fans I was given the option to promote a post and the lowest price available was $15.00 per day.  I shared an event on the page and I was given the lowest price of $5.00 per day.

I have a number of pages and would like to explore the 'promote' feature but on one page in particular (that has more than 280,000 fans!) I cannot see the 'promote' option available yet on the other pages I have it is there. I have logged in as the page but still no luck. Then I saw this "Each promoted post can only be managed by the admin that created it. Other admins of your Page will not be able to make changes to a promotion you set up unless they have permission to access your advertising account." does this mean that only the person who originally created the page can manage the promote feature or does it mean the person who added a single post to promote is the only person that can promote it? I can't see the functionality at all regardless of who is logged in to view it. Any thoughts on why I wouldn't be able to view it?

How will page views "normalize" if now we are required to pay for them. I have the same issue as Janet. Page views have tanked. We are a small non-profit and although we can't afford the "promote" option, we don't even have it since we have less than 400 "likes."  This is all very disheartening and will be tough for the "little guys," I think.

Well, its been a great feature added by face book but I am not in the favour of buying the post promoting feature and I think it will work well if its free same as the like button.

Sorry to hear that, Janet. Hopefully page views normalize soon and aren't solely dependent on paid ads. Definitely not fair to nonprofits and small businesses who have built an engaged community around exceptional content. Thanks for sharing your experience as well, Brian - very interesting!

I did the other day. I opted for the $10 option and honestly it wasn't worth it, only got about 50 more views compared to other posts Ive made without it.

For those of us in the small nonprofit world it's not looking good. Since the promote button has showed up my page's views have tanked--and I'm hearing that from others too. And we cannot afford to pay for exposure for posts.
