LinkedIn Launches Board Connect for Nonprofits

LinkedIn has launched a new tool that helps nonprofits connect with potential board members.

With the launch of Board Connect, the professional social network is giving nonprofit leaders the tools needed to leverage their own networks to find the right fit for their boards.

Board Connect includes free access to Talent Finder — one of LinkedIn’s premium account features — access to an exclusive educational webcast, and an invitation to join the Board Connect Group on LinkedIn.

According to LinkedIn, an estimated 87 percent of human resources professionals and 92 percent of marketing professionals are interested in board service, but hardly any of them serve on boards.

As a business professional, there are many benefits to serving on a board. For example, it helps to build your skill set, grows your network, as well as your brand, and enables you to collaborate with other knowledgeable and talented professionals.

Board Connect is only open to registered nonprofits. If you’re a professional interested in joining a board, LinkedIn recommends that you complete the “Volunteer Experience & Causes” section of your profile.
