Twitter Revamps New Follower Email Notifications
The first change you’ll notice is the removal of usernames from the subject of the email. Subjects now read, “You have a new follower on Twitter” instead of “UserXYZ (@userXYZ) is now following you on Twitter.”
Although the layout has received a significant redesign, your email notification still contains the name, profile picture, bio, and follower count of your new follower. Additionally, Twitter has added his or her website URL.
However, the Follow button is rather deceiving as it doesn’t let you follow the individual from your inbox, Instead, clicking on it simply launches their Twitter profile, where you can then decide if you’d like to follow him or her.
Focusing on follower details is a smart move for Twitter, but the update would be stronger if it allowed you to act directly from your inbox. Hopefully this functionality will be added in future iterations.
