Twitter Tip Tuesday is a weekly blog series from Sprout Social: Insights.
Every Tuesday we’ll focus on just one (1) Twitter Tip and show you how to integrate it into your social media strategy.
Today’s Twitter Tip: Spell Check your Business Tweets
We’ve all done it. Typed our 140 characters into Twitter, hit send and then looked at the Tweet in the stream, only to find those horrific spelling mistakes staring back at you. If you are just a personal Tweeter, it can be forgiven. If you are a business Tweeter, it’s a different story.
Don’t Rush It
If you are Tweeting something about your business, a client, or even something related to your industry, don’t rush it. No matter how important it is, it can wait for a spell check. If you misspell something and post it to Twitter, it’s like going to your busy store front window and announcing your “BIG 50% OFF SLAE”.
Limit ABRV TXT, please.
While it can save characters and time, abbreviated words in a business Tweet look, well, very un-business like. Keep it short and sweet and link to a Website or some other online content. Remember, not everyone is versed in fluent Twitter speak and to them “OMG, U HAVE 2 C THS SALE” may be just an unintelligible vowel movement.
We’re not suggesting that you become a spelling or grammar fanatic for your conversational tweets. But remember, when your tweet is about business, it helps to dot all your i’s and cross all your tweets!
