Until now, tagging Facebook photos has been limited to naming the people in the picture. This week Facebook rolled out new functionality that allows anyone to tag photos uploaded to the social network with associated Pages as well.

For example, is that a Coke can in your hand in the photo you just uploaded? That picture can be tagged with the official Coca-Cola Page. That Page’s News Feed is then updated with a tagging notification for all their fans to see.

This is great news for Brand/Product and People pages, but Local Business, Company, Entertainment/Artist/Public Figure and Cause/Community Pages are not yet included. When they are, this will be a great way for your fans to see tagged photos of your business in action.

Photo tagging follows the privacy settings for the person or Page that uploaded the photo. If a Page admin wishes to disable this, they can always do so through the Edit Page > Posting Options > unchecking the “Users can add photos” option.
