Less than a month after Facebook added post performance alerts to your notifications, the company is now bringing a similar functionality to your Page’s Admin Panel. In addition to showing you the organic and paid reach of each recent post, the social network has begun highlighting your most engaging posts.
Last updated in March — when Facebook replaced “Notifications” with “Posts” — the Admin Panel will now display your most engaging posts in yellow with a star where the post type (photo, link, or text) is usually placed. Now it’s almost impossible to miss an opportunity to expand your reach.
It’s no secret that the company hopes to turn more page owners into advertisers. This update follows a long ling of tweaks that made Promoted Posts more prominent and easier to create. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Although you might miss having your notifications displayed more prominently in the Admin Panel, Facebook is trying to take some of the guesswork out of promoting your posts.
As of December 2012, only six months after the ad unit launched, more than 300,000 Pages have promoted 2.5 million posts. Much of their appeal is due to the fact that they’re so easy to create. But with great power comes great responsibility. To help you keep a closer watch on your ad spend, Facebook yesterday began alerting page owners running Promoted Posts when their campaign’s budget has expired.
It’s hard to say how effective this will be at getting first-time advertisers to invest in Promoted Posts, but power users should appreciate the help. Agencies and those managing Facebook Pages for multiple clients especially could benefit from the highlighted posts. Now you can spend more time reaching people and less time worrying about which post to focus on.
