Today, LinkedIn — which has more than two million companies in its network — announced the launch of its Follow Company button.

One of the best ways to gain followers on a social network is to notify current customers through your website. Platforms like Twitter and Facebook have offered social buttons for a couple of years now.

LinkedIn’s new button will make it easier for consumers — that are logged in — to automatically follow companies of interest on the social network, without having to go to the company’s profile. Individuals that aren’t logged in will be prompted to do so.

If you don’t already have a Company Page on LinkedIn, it’s worth looking into. It’s a great way for customers to stay up-to-date on company news and career opportunities. Additionally, you can link your tweets and blog posts to your company profile so visitors are also made aware of your presence on other sites.

To put a LinkedIn Follow button on your website, visit the company’s Developer site for instructions.
