Facebook’s iPhone App Update Could Lead to More Check-Ins
Facebook has updated its iPhone app with a variety of new features and privacy controls to match the recent enhancements made to its website.
There has been some confusion around Facebook killing off its Places feature, but instead of removing Places completely, it just added additional ways for your customers to share locations. The update made it possible for your visitors to tag friends and places in status updates right from the mobile feed.
On the home screen Places has been changed to “Nearby.” Customers can still check in through the Nearby button. Once clicked a feed will appear with the locations that friends have checked in to. At the top right there is a check-in button and tapping it pulls up a list of nearby locations.
With more opportunities to check in customers may find this method to be easier resulting in more awareness for your business. The update also offers better control of who can see what – status updates can be shared with friends or made public.
In addition to these updates Facebook has also fixed a number of bugs and made some performance enhancements. Both the mobile version of the profile and group pages have received some minor design updates that helped to clean up the look.
