Today the video hosting service Vimeo introduced a new Perks program that offers paid subscribers deals on professional video equipment and software.
Launched in 2004, Vimeo is a video-sharing website that lets users upload, share, and view videos. The difference between Vimeo and YouTube is that the former is for noncommercial use only – Vimeo Pro account holders are the exception to that rule.
“Vimeo Perks is the latest step in our goal to provide maximum value for our premium members,” explains Blake Whitman, Vice President of Creative Development at Vimeo. “We’ve partnered with brands that our community knows and loves in order to provide them an easy way to buy the products they want at exclusive discounts.”
Vimeo has partnered with brands, such as B&H Photo and Kessler Crane, to offer the company’s Pro and Plus subscribers discounts on equipment, software, and additional video accessories. A Vimeo Plus subscription costs $59.95 a year and comes with 5 gigabytes of storage and a Pro subscription costs $199 a year and comes with 50 gigabytes of storage.
Perks will be updated regularly to feature new product launches, upgrades, and so on.
Although many businesses tend to favor YouTube for marketing or advertising videos, Vimeo is a service worth looking into – especially if you plan on purchasing a Pro subscription. Not only does Vimeo boast better quality videos and more customization options, but Pro users also receive priority uploading, which means you can skip the queue and upload your business videos ahead of other unpaid accounts.
