Simplify the Public-to-Private Transition by Adding a DM Prompt to Your Twitter Reply

The new Add DM Link button in the lower left corner of the Twitter reply screen enables you to seamlessly embed a DM Prompt when replying to a customer. The DM Prompt adds a deep link to the reply Tweet that automatically displays a call to action button to the user on Twitter.com. This deep link allows a user to send your business a Direct Message quickly and easily.

  1. How To:
  2. Click the reply icon on any Twitter message in the Smart Inbox or Feeds.
  3. Compose your reply leaving at least 23 characters to account for the deep link.
  4. Click the Add DM Link button in the lower left corner of the Twitter reply screen.
  5. Note: The Add DM Link button will only be available to you in Sprout if you have configured your settings on Twitter.com to allow for anyone to DM your business.*
  6. Once you’ve added the DM link, the button will turn blue and display “Request for DM included” and your remaining character count will reflect the addition of a link. However, you will not see the link in the reply text field.
  7. Click Send.
