Google now allows developers to respond to comments and reviews about their apps on Google Play.
Currently the conversation between developers and customers is a bit one-sided. While social media can help to bridge the gap, it’s not the most effective solution as many people turn to user reviews before making the final decision whether to download an app.
Initially, this ability was available only to top developers — those sporting a ‘top developers’ badge on Google Play. Although it’s not available to everyone just yet, a Google spokesperson revealed that the feature is gradually rolling out to additional developers.
The search giant hopes that by expanding this ability that you’ll be able to establish better relationships with your customers. Providing feedback to criticism and answering questions could help to sway potential users. It also gives Google Play a leg up on Apple’s App Store — and it might help lure some developers over to Android.
Google didn’t say when all developers can expect to use this functionality. If you don’t see the option to reply to comments, we recommend checking back in a few days.
