Foursquare is about to add much more value to features, such as check-ins, photos, and tips.
The company announced that soon, more third-party apps will be able to function directly within its own app.
“This opens up a ton of possibilities, all around interacting with people’s experiences while they’re having them,” explained the company on its blog. “For instance, Eat This, Not That can suggest healthy dishes the moment someone checks in at a restaurant.”
Members of Foursquare’s community can connect your app to their account and see your messages in their post-check-in screens. The company will give you credit, so other people can connect your app or click through to your site.
Some partners have already integrated with Foursquare, resulting in some interesting functions. For example, The Weather Channel can provide weather updates after someone checks in to a new city.
The update began rolling out to iOS and Android yesterday, with BlackBerry support coming soon. Whether you integrate an app or not, this certainly provides your customers with a more robust experience. By adding more context to their location, it could prompt more visitors to check in to and interact with your business.
