Foursquare has released an update today for its Android app that significantly improves the look of venue pages, both before and after check-in.
Before a customer checks in to your business, he or she is greeted by a single, non-interactive image behind the title of the location. In the new version, your venue page shows off several photos at once in a swipeable gallery for easy browsing.
After check-in, Foursquare has added more relevant information to the standard venue template. Now customers will see things like who else is there, popular tips, and will also be given an easier way to leave tips or rate venues.
The company believes this update will dramatically help the user experience, as consumers are generally using the app for one of two reasons: to decide where to go, and to decide what to do once they get there. Currently available on Android, Foursquare said these updates will be heading to the iOS version soon.
In a separate update, Foursquare showed off its stronger integration with Instagram. Now, when someone sees a picture of a friend’s meal, for example, he or she can tap the name of the place above the photo and the Foursquare icon.
Doing so will provide the viewer with more information about the location, including photos, tips, hours, menu details, and other friends who have been there. Most importantly, that person can tap “Save” so the venue can be added to his or her to-do list.
