After quietly launching in Los Angeles, Seattle, Boise and Palm Beach, Florida last month, Amazon has just expanded its daily deals service, Amazon Local, into Chicago as well.
Using LivingSocial’s workforce to get quickly off the ground, Amazon Local is offering customers savings of “50% or more every day.” Amazon invested heavily into LivingSocial last year and now we see why.
Though Amazon Local is yet another daily deals service to enter the already crowded market, it has one very strong advantage. Groupon, LivingSocial and other popular daily deals services have to spend a great deal of money to attract users, but Amazon already has a database of customers to launch with.
As Amazon continues to roll out its new service, only time will tell if consumers can embrace one more daily deal offer vying for their attention.
