Businesses using Windows 8 will find it easier to manage their presence on Twitter as the company has finally released a native app for the new platform. The new app brings with it familiar features like the Home, Connect, Discover, and Me tabs, but it also introduces new functionalities that take advantage of some unique Windows 8 features.
Snap View, for example, lets you keep up with conversations happening on Twitter while reading an article or watching a video. Just snap Twitter into the left or right side of the screen and start using another app — a handy tool for community managers who often multitask.
Thanks to an all-new landscape view, not only can you view a larger version of individual photos, but you can also swipe horizontally to view multiple photos in the Discover tab or a follower’s profile. This is great for looking at your brand evangelists’ photos, but it’s also really beneficial to your followers, especially if you share a lot of behind-the-scenes or product photos.
Through the Share charm, you can tweet from any app at any time. All you have to do is swipe from the right edge of Windows 8 and then choose the Share charm to share content, such as a photo or news article, to Twitter. Similar to the Share charm, the Search charm makes it easy to find an account or see tweets using a specific hashtag.
And finally, you can keep up with what’s happening on Twitter by using Twitter Live Tiles and notifications, which appear no matter which app you’re currently using.
You can download Twitter for Windows 8 or Windows RT today.
