Twitter for BlackBerry has been updated to the latest version, bringing with it expanded tweets and several new ways to discover content and people to follow.
The company has long favored its iOS and Android apps, leaving BlackBerry owners slightly in the past when it comes to functionality.
In version 3.2, the updated tweet details screen now features a small preview of the link or media embedded in the tweet. It contains a headline and summary of the text as well as some information on the publisher and author. While this feature has been available on other platforms for quite some time, Twitter now offers a consistent experience across all a majority of its apps.
Twitter has also introduced a “Find Friends” button, offering you a quick way to find new people to follow. However, the functionality is somewhat unclear. Depending on whether you’re new to Twitter or an experienced user, the button will either be located on the welcome screen or your profile, and will connect you with contacts from your address book on Twitter.
And finally, Twitter for BlackBerry has a quick follow button, which lets you follow someone in just one tap. Previously you had to click through to that person’s profile first. The updated app is now available for download from BlackBerry App World. You can read more about the new features on BlackBerry’s blog.
