It’s a busy week for LinkedIn, which just introduced redesigned Company Pages. In addition to several design updates, the professional social network has added real-time notifications.

Similar to Facebook in design and function, these notifications will let you know when someone comments on or likes a post, sends an invitation to connect, views your Profile, and so on.

A new notification flag has been added to the top of your homepage. A red circle will appear when you have something new, such as a comment or an accepted contact request.

Previously, you were alerted to actions through email notifications, which not only added to inbox clutter, but often went unnoticed. LinkedIn hopes that these new on-site notifications will help to increase engagement with your network.

Real-time notifications started rolling out yesterday and could take a few weeks before everyone sees the new flag icon. LinkedIn also noted that mobile support for notifications will be coming soon.
