Earlier this week Google announced its partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs and introduced the Veterans Job Bank. In honor of Veterans Days, the search giant also highlighted some additional tools and platforms for the military veteran community.
The Veterans Job Bank is a customized job search engine in the National Resource Directory – a website for supporting service members, veterans, and their families. It is powered by Google Custom Search technology and helps to identify veteran-committed job openings.
Other useful tools can be found on the company’s website, Google for Veterans and Families – which was actually created by veterans and their family and friends that work at Google.
VetConnect utilizes Google+ and helps service members connect, communicate, and share experiences with others. There is also a YouTube channel for discussion about military service for veterans, family members, and the public. An especially useful tool is Resume Builder, which is powered by Google Docs. It generates an auto-formatted resume that can be easily edited, saved, and downloaded.
Google is also working on a Tour Builder – powered by Google Earth – which provides tours of veterans’ service histories, including photos and videos. More details about the service are available on the Google Lat Long Blog.
More information about all of these tools and more is available on Google for Veterans and Families.
