Just in time for the holidays Google has announced new features for Product Search that aim to make it easier for consumers to find and buy products.

Google Product Search is a price comparison service dedicated to helping shoppers find products quickly and easily on the web. As a seller, you can submit products for free and drive traffic and sales to your store.

For shoppers with a specific product in mind, Google has introduced the Best Match feature, where the company will highlight which products it thinks the shopper is looking for. For example, if someone is searching for a PowerShot SD1400, a relevant Best Match product will appear at the top of the page.

Another new feature is Popular Products. This helps consumers that are looking for a specific product, but haven’t performed much research yet. When a shopper searches for a general term, Google will return a list of products ranked in order of popularity. This not only helps to focus the consumer’s search on a few specific models, but it will also provide suggestions on how to refine the search.

Since many consumers will be using mobile phones to research on the go, Google has also released a new Mobile Product Search homepage. The mobile version will provide instant access to detailed product information, reviews, and prices. This page can be access through the Google Search app by selecting the Shopping tab.

With holiday shopping kicking into high gear this week, more consumers will be researching, comparing, and purchasing products.
