While social media allows for both positive and negative thoughts to be shared, some times it can also open the door for spam and inappropriate content. One of Facebook’s many recent updates grants Page admins the ability to moderate community-generated posts.

Last week the social network introduced Timeline for Pages, which paved the way for a variety of updates aimed improving Page management.

The newest feature will give you the chance to review posts from your fans before they appear on your Timeline. To access these controls, select Edit Page below Manage Permissions. There you will be able to select the moderation option, which will only display activity after it has been reviewed by an admin.

You can review the pending posts from the Activity Log. Posts will remain hidden until you select “Allow on Timeline.” One exception is the comments on Page posts — these don’t appear to be affected by the new settings.

While this is helpful for Pages that address sensitive topics or have had issues with spam, it might not be necessary for every Page. We suggest turning it on only when activity becomes problematic — doing so otherwise might deter your community from posting to your wall.
