Facebook is testing a new design for a section of its site previously known as “Discover Facebook’s Popular Pages.”
Now sporting a new name, “Like Your Favorite Pages” aims to connect members with Pages based on their interests, rather than what’s popular. Until now, this section was mostly hidden on the social network.
However, over the last year, members have seen the Pages Browser appear alongside Page-Like Sponsored Stories as well as after they’ve hidden an ad. Currently it’s featured in Facebook’s bookmarks bar just below Pages.
The Page suggestions in this section are based on recent check-ins, previously visited Pages, Open Graph activity, and friend connections. Individuals can quickly engage with the Page by hovering over its thumbnail and clicking Like.
Once there, an individual can view all recommendations at once, or filter by category, such as Music, People, Sports, Brands & Products, Company & Organizations, Local Businesses, and so on.
As recommended Pages become more relevant to members, it’s possible that could see an increase in Likes, and possibly even engagement. For now, we’ll have to keep a close eye on how this redesigned page performs.
