It’s Facebook Friday — each week we’ll offer one tip for leveraging Facebook to increase customer awareness of and engagement with your brand or business. This week we’ll show you how to choose which Facebook pages you have Liked show up in the left hand sidebar of your company page.

Fans can Like your company’s Facebook page and you, logged in as your company page, can also Like the pages of other companies. Liking other company pages  can go a long way in building community for your own page. But only five of those Liked pages appear on the left hand sidebar of your company page. Here’s how to choose which ones show up.

Go to your company’s Facebook page and look for the “Edit Page” button in the upper right corner under the top navigation bar. Click on that, then look at the options presented on the left side of the page. Click on the fifth one down labeled “Featured.” You’ll see two choices presented to you. Click on the “Add Featured Likes” button.
A pop up page will appear with all the pages you have Liked while logged in as your company. You can then mark off the check boxes for the ones you want to definitely appear in the sidebar. Though only five can appear at once, you can choose more than five and Facebook will rotate them in.

When you hit Save, your choices will appear on this Featured Like page so you will know which ones you have chosen. That’s it. Make sure to rotate these often, especially if you Like new pages later on.

A warning: make sure you are Liking the pages of companies that you know and truly add value for your fans. You are making a recommendation to your Facebook fans when you do so and that reflects on your company. Remember, you can always Unlike a page by going to that page and clicking on the Unlike link at the bottom of the left hand sidebar.
