While everyone is anticipating Facebook‘s Timeline announcement next week, the social network is still making changes to other areas of its site.

Facebook Groups received a subtle redesign today that changes the layout. The new look replaces the Group’s profile picture with a slide of the group members’ profile pictures.

If you’re currently using Groups, this update is helpful in the sense that it provides you with a better view of who is in the Group, as well easier access to important stats — such as user count — and links to the Group’s events, photos, and documents.

The new photo slide also lets viewers scroll over individuals’ photos. Not only will their name appear, but you can also click on the image to be taken to their personal profile.

Groups are designed for communication between a team of people involved with the same project, organization, or company. The new layout won’t affect Facebook Pages, which are meant for interaction between businesses or brands and their fans.
