Facebook has introduced a new set of alerts for developers running apps on the social network, making it easier to spot major issues right when they happen.
Accessible in the Developer Alerts tool, the new API error notifications will provide you with critical information about your apps through email and notifications on Facbeook.com. If your apps experiences an abnormally high API error rate, you’ll be notified.
Included in the alert is information on the method name along with the error codes and descriptions to help you gauge how serious of an issue it is. Facebook noted that you can always monitor your App Insights dashboard for an in-depth look at your overall API activity and performance.
This is a smart update as Facebook continues making efforts to keep developers better informed. Recently the company introduced Developers Live, a dedicated Facebook App where it will show developer-related videos and live broadcasts from important events.
Facebook has already begun a gradual rollout and plans to enable these alerts for all apps in the coming weeks.
