Facebook appears to be testing a number of new features this week, including new premium ads that allow Pages to share coupons with fans and then use that post as an ad unit on the social network’s homepage.

An individual that sees the ad or the post on the Page’s Wall can click “Get Coupon” and he or she will receive an email from Facebook with the coupon and an option to share it with friends.

This feature, which shouldn’t be confused with Facebook Check-In Deals, is currently being tested by a limited group of Facebook Pages. If you are included in the limited test, you have the ability to offer discounts that customers can redeem both in-store and online.

“We think this test is complementary to the other products we offer businesses and we hope to learn more about how this might work for both merchants and customers,” a Facebook representative told Inside Facebook.

There is still no word from Facebook on when this feature will go live for all of its users. In the mean time, it’s still worth exploring other advertising options on Facebook. The best way to determine if the social network is a good place to spend your advertising dollars is to create an ad and track its effectiveness through Likes and so on.
