Dropbox has launched a major redesign and has added some new features aimed at simplifying file management.

Similar to Apple’s iCloud, Dropbox is a free service that lets you easily upload and access photos, documents, and videos from anywhere, anytime.

The company has introduced a new Action Bar that will change based on your selection. For example, you can use it to sort your files, or if you select a file or folder, the bar will change to let you perform other actions. The same actions can also be performed by right-clicking on a file.

Dropbox has also added a Lightbox photo viewer — similar to that on Google+ or Facebook — that allows you to view your photos and videos in full screen. The company has also added thumbnails for different kinds of files so you can determine what something is without having to open or download it — a major timesaver.

Other new features include the ability to drag-and-drop files, improved multiple-file selection, keyboard shortcuts, and a faster search.

If you’re looking for a cloud-based storage tool, look no further. Dropbox is great for backing up files and collaborating on everything from day-to-day tasks to large projects. According to the company, the redesign is only part one; more updates are expected over the next few months.
