A recent study performed by analytics firm Simply Measured revealed that some of the world’s biggest brands are now using Google+.
Since Google invited brands to create Pages, many of the top performing brands were owned by the company itself. Based on how many times a brand has been Circled, the study found that many of the top companies now consist of beverages and apparel brands and restaurants.
Two months ago, there wasn’t a single brand with more than 100,000 Circlers on Google+. Now, there are 13 above that level. According to the study, H&M and Samsung USA are among the top brands on Google+. Rounding out the top 10 are Pepsi, Starbucks, Burberry, Coca-Cola, Sony, Intel, eBay, and Ford Motor Company at number 10.
Simply Measured also found that consumers are engaging more with brands that share photos versus other types of content – including videos, articles, and random updates. H&M has leveraged visual content very well, which is probably why it’s in the top spot.
As Google+ continues to grow, so does its mainstream appeal. As a broader variety of brands adopt the social network, consumers are following suit. If you’ve been waiting to join, you might want to start thinking of ways to integrate the platform into your marketing strategy.
