Leaked Update Reveals Exciting New Features for Twitter’s iPhone App
Twitter has been prepping a major update for its iOS app, and according to leaked release notes, it’s going to be a big one.
The feature list was leaked due to a bug in the unreleased iOS 6′s redesigned App Store. While Apple will likely fix this bug soon, Twitter’s list of new features is making the rounds.
These include the ability to see “select events” highlights in your timeline. For this, Twitter will curate accounts and showcase the best tweets and photos from those involved. Additionally, you’ll have a more interactive tweet view experience, which lets you see embedded content previews.
Twitter is also adding enhanced notifications, which will alert you (via push notification) immediately when specific people you follow have tweeted. New ambient notifications enable you to see brief, non-interruptive notifications in the status bar while you’re using the app.
Other updates include support for personalized trends, tappable avatars, and an alert when new stories are available in the Discover tab.
Although the release date is still unknown, and there’s no word on whether a similar revamp is coming for the iPad, it will be a huge improvement for anyone managing Twitter from an iPhone.
Update: Twitter for iPhone version 4.3 is now available for download.
