Google Switches Everyone Over to the New Version of Analytics

Today Google announced that it plans to retire the old version of Google Analytics, which it has supported for the past year.

Google Analytics is a free service offered by the search giant that generates detailed statistics about visitors to your websites.

Last September, Google introduced a redesigned interface and real-time reports for Analytics. This update simplified navigation across the site, separating it into three tabs: Home, Standard Reporting, and Custom Reporting.

As of tomorrow, the company will remove the link to the previous version, which sits at the bottom of Google Analytics pages, and everyone will be transitioned to the new version.

While becoming familiar with a new interface can be overwhelming, we think the new features you’ve been missing out on will more than make up for it. With the new version, you’ll have access to real-time analytics and social reports, and other valuable tools.

With social reports, you’ll be able to measure the immediate impact of your social media efforts. For example, if you share a blog post on Twitter, tag the links you shared and you’ll be able to see how much traffic each channel is driving to your blog as it happens.

Other features include mobile reports and the ability to experiment with different versions of pages.

@bottlethecrazy seems impossible to get data out of, real time is just a gimmick. No practical use (aside from social media possibly)
