Over the weekend, LinkedIn quietly launched its official Windows Phone 7.5 app. Until now, the company — which recently released an iPad app — was one of the major social networks that lacked a native Windows Phone app.

Through the app, you’ll have quick access to your inbox, Groups, companies, jobs, and LinkedIn Today —a stream of daily news based on what your connections are reading and sharing. Additionally, you’ll also be able to view your new connections, latest updates to LinkedIn profiles, as well as who has viewed your profile.

The new app also takes advantage of the Windows Phone’s Metro user interface and live tiles capabilities. Live tiles, unlike the apps featured on your iPhone‘s home screen, display dynamic content. For example, LinkedIn’s tile rotates to display the latest LinkedIn Today content.

While we haven’t had a chance to get hands on with the new app, it’s receiving fairly good reviews in the Windows Phone Marketplace. The Next Web did report some buggy behavior, including an “internet connection is unavailable” message, albeit being able to navigate through the app without an issue.

It’s hard to say how the Windows Phone app compares to iOS or Android versions, but it seems to be a major improvement over using the mobile web.
