Facebook Is Already Testing a New Timeline Design for Profiles
Based on screenshots — provided by TPM’s Carl Franzen — the biggest difference is the repositioning of your name and vital stats (home location, occupation, education, and so on) from below the cover photo to right on top of it.
The new design also introduced a new tab on individual profiles called Summary, which displays a list of the individual’s major life events. Additionally, the Likes section has been renamed as Favorites — a possibly confusing terminology change.
Details below the cover photo have also been condensed into a smaller space. Facebook has removed custom previews and visuals opting for a more streamlined look.
From what the screenshots reveal, it appears that these changes are currently only being tested on Facebook Profiles. However, if past redesigns are any indication, changes to Pages will follow.
According to Franzen, Facebook declined to specify how many user profiles are included in the new test, as well as whether this would become the new standard look for the social network.
