Apple’s New iPad Launches March 16: Here Are the Details

Apple has finally put months of rumors to rest and revealed the new iPad, which will be available to the public on March 16th.

In the last quarter alone, Apple has sold 15.4 million iPads, more than any PC sold by manufacturers. The new iPad, which now supports 4G LTE, will be available next week starting at $499 for 16GB.

Additional models will start at $599 for 32GB, $699 for 64GB, $629 for 16GB 4G, $729 for 32GB 4G, and $829 for 64GB 4G.

Apple has included retina display with 3.1 million pixels. That’s 264 pixels per inch, making it the most pixels ever in a mobile device. It will also include an iSight camera — with five megapixels — an A5X processor with quad-core graphics, video recording, and voice dictation.

Among other things, the company has also announced iOS 5.1 — available today — which will bring Siri to Japan over the next few weeks. Additionally, now movies and TV shows purchased on other devices can be watched on the new Apple TV — which supports 1080p — also available March 16th for $99.

Although its only been available for less than two years, the iPad has quickly become a valuable — and now, a more powerful — tool for many business owners. Also, if your company has an app, it’s time to update it so it can support the new iPad’s new resolution.

@SproutSocial there's a typo in your iPad article. Shouldn't it be sold 15.4 million w/out the $ ?

They came out with some really cool updates for the exsiting iWorks, iMovie and iPhoto. Also, I like how they added the iSight camera and personal hotspot. I think they are great upgrades but nothing that I absolutely need.

That's what the consensus around the office seems to be as well. Some interesting new features, but not likely to go buy the first one off the shelf. Were there any features in particular that seemed intriguing to you, @Joshua?

I'll stick with my iPad - The performace update is pretty cool but it didn't impress me enough to buy the new one.
