Google Search for iPad Receives Update to Include Google Instant
Google Instant is a search enhancement that helps you find information faster by displaying results as you type. The service can save two to five seconds per search by predicting your search and showing results before you finish typing.
The updated Google Search iPad app features this service and once you’ve chosen a result, a pane will slide in from the right – similar to the official Twitter app for iPad – which will allow you browse other results while the page loads. The pane also makes it easier and faster to switch back and forth between the two sections.
In addition to the search query screen, the layout of the image viewing section has also received an update. By tapping on an image, you can activate a rolling carousel of results. You can swipe left or right to move through the images more quickly. The carousel feature has also been applied to your search history and now you can swipe your way through a visual representation of your past searches.
The updated app – which is available for download now – is sleeker and has a stronger focus on visuals than its predecessor. The app is pretty fresh, but reports are already stating that Google Search for iPad delivers a much better experience than the Gmail app for iPhone.
