Foursquare Offers Mobile Daily Deals Through Groupon, Others
Foursquare isn’t just for check-ins anymore; the location-based social network will offer daily group-buying deals to its members. Today it was revealed that Groupon will be a partner for these deals, along with others like LivingSocial, AT&T, BuyWithMe, Gilt City, and zozi, which were announced earlier.
The deals through Groupon are already available in Chicago, and they will expand to other U.S. cities over the weekend. They include mobile deals from Groupon Now. Foursquare and Groupon will share the revenues for these deals, but the exact breakdown and relationship have not been revealed. In addition to revenue, though, Foursquare will get added value it can offer to members, and the daily deals partners like Groupon will gain exposure among Foursquare’s roughly 10 million members.
Looking to add a deal of your own? It appears that Foursquare is just aggregating existing deals run by the daily deals companies, so you’ll have to go directly to Groupon, LivingSocial, or another Foursquare partner to set your deals up. Offering those deals could draw customers to your business, and if they’re Foursquare users, you might gain additional exposure when they check in.
