Fan Friday: I'll be BACK, Simon Cowell!
It’s Fan Friday at Sprout: Insights.
Each Friday, we’ll highlight some of the folks who’ve commented on our posts
- letting everyone know that, hey, we’re their fan too!
I’ll be BACK! – Dr. Jason Hare
The first word, this week, goes to Dr. Jason Hare, a Nanaimo Chiropractor who generously contributed guest posts to us on Using Advanced Twitter Search and Top Tips for Small Business Video Marketing.
Dr. J added some real world insights from the perspective of a small business owner and we’re glad to have as guest poster on the Sprout Social: Insights blog.
Dr. J says:
Have a feeling I might make another appearance on Sprout Social Insights soon…
We share that feeling, Dr. J and we’re looking forward to your next guest post!
Easy and Cheap – Tim Danyo
Tim Danyo, owner of Imagination Media liked Dr. J’s post on Top Tips for Small Business Video Marketing. But like many small business owners, Tim wonders where he’s supposed to find the time to create his own business marketing videos.
I think the trend right now is to say video is super easy and super cheap. I don’t agree. Video marketing is effective. But do we actually have the time and energy to do it all ourselves and with a successful outcome?
Great points Tim. Our take is that guerilla video is ‘in’ right now and it makes sense for businesses to ride this wave while it’s still rising and while the barriers to entry are still low.
Feel free to connect back with us with a link to your first guerrilla video, okay?
Where’s Simon Cowell When You Need Him? – April Vance
April Vance, owner of PearlBrite Victoria, weighed in our post Should Your Business Be Blogging.
April wonders out loud if blogging for small business is worth the effort:
I am a new business owner learning how to social network, blog and generally boot myself out of my comfort zone. Blogging feels a little like a repeating nightmare of appearing on American Idol over and over again, and never really hearing the verdict from the judges.
We think American Idol is overrated and past its prime anyway April!
Sing your own tune. Even thought it may be quiet at first, you’ll soon hear harmony and accompaniment from your followers and fans. After all, we’re singing along with you now, right?
And the Last Word Goes To…
Mark Myles pastor of Converge Church agreed with our Twitter Tip Tuesday Post regarding the importance of listening. Mark has effectively used social media to build a flock not only on Twitter but in his church as well.
On the value of listening, Mark reminds us that
God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason, right?
Well said Mark. We can only imagine the benefits if we all spent twice as much time listening than we do talking!
